I Gave the G-Shock DW-5600 a Visual Upgrade #Casio #GShock #Shorts

There's a lot of things people do to their digital G-Shocks. Some people even turn their positive displays to negative and vice-versa, which involves replacing stock polarizer with another one. However, what we're going to do with this pretty standard-looking DW-5600 isn't all that much. What I have with me is this set of gel filters to give the display some personality. Let's just say I got a little inspired by certain G-Shock models.

We start with carefully removing the straps one after another, and then open the four screws on the case back. With utmost care, we take the back plate off, remove the rubber shield, and then very carefully remove the module from the case. Getting a precisely cut piece of filter that would match the shape of the face, we place it without touching the display in order to prevent fingerprints while also avoiding creating air bubbles. Once done, we place everything back together in the reverse order, and there you have it: a DW-5600 that looks subjectively better than how it comes from the factory. For comparison, here's how it was without the filter. It's a day and night difference depending on the view angle, similar to changing the wheels on a car.

The best part is that as this is an LED model, the backlight remains largely undisturbed for its function with only a change in color, which I think suits it well. Let me know if you think the mod improved this G-Shock Square or otherwise made it worse.
